Open Position: Finance Assistant

Wideblue are a well-established, multi-disciplinary product design and development consultancy located just outside Glasgow. We design a wide range of exciting new products for the medical, scientific, commercial and consumer sectors. Our portfolio includes professional sports cameras, point of care medical devices and instant cameras. Many of the products in our portfolio are the first of their kind, based on novel technology or intellectual property. Our strength is developing integrated systems which are commercially viable products.

To support our existing customers and our ambitions for growth, we are looking for an experienced full-time Financial Assistant. Wideblue support flexible working and fully or partial remote working will be considered.

Job Description:

The vacancy is for an experienced Financial Assistant. The successful candidate will be joining us to support our design and development of new products for the medical, scientific, commercial, and consumer sectors. You will be working with our team, clients and wider organization to manage all aspects of accounting as detailed below.

Our friendly Glasgow-based team has worked together for a number of years and we are looking for an enthusiastic team member to support our expanding workload.
We offer a flexible hybrid working approach across our multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities – As part of our team you will lead the following activities:

  • Process supplier invoices using Xero software.
  • Process sales monthly invoices.
  • Handle prepayments and accruals
  • Oversee and reconcile bank and credit card account.
  • Process employee expenses.
  • Prepare weekly payments to suppliers.
  • Prepare monthly management reports using Xero.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns via Xero.
  • Prepare and submit HMRC data.
  • Liaise with payroll outsource where necessary.
  • Deal with any associated audit demands.
  • Support R & D Tax Credit preparation.
  • Manage year end tasks and liaise with External Accountants.
  • Supporting sales calls and general enquiries.
  • Liaise with our teams in the US and Asia (remotely).

Competencies:

  • ESSENTIAL: Xero accounting software experience
  • Recent Bookkeeping or Finance Administration experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong numerical skills
  • An ability to work independently with the support for our wider team.
