Wideblue Purchase Thermal Camera for Project Work

The camera was bought to help with a project that required measuring heat flow and heat distribution in a prototype new product.

In addition to products that require heating or heat dissipation, the thermal camera can also aid in debugging electronics boards and checking for heat build-up during lifetime testing of new products.

Wideblue Start New Project for 3D Remote Visual Inspection in the Nuclear Industry

This week saw the kick-off of our new “Mosaicing for Automatic Pipe Scanning” (MAPS) project. It will combine innovative new optical hardware and advanced image processing techniques for interactive 3D remote visual inspection (RVI) of pipework in the nuclear industry. This new project aims to develop a ruggedized prototype that will be deployed and demonstrated in a range of test environments, both in the laboratory and on-site.

The five-member consortium includes Inspectahire, University of Strathclyde, Wideblue Ltd, a nuclear site license company and is led by National Nuclear Laboratory. The inspection hardware will be developed by Wideblue Ltd and the analysis software will be developed by University of Strathclyde. The specification of the hardware will be driven by NNL, Inspectahire, and the nuclear site license company to meet both their existing needs and other emerging opportunities. The combination of skills within the consortium is unique, and as such this project will deliver a world-leading capability for nuclear inspection associated with routine inspection, reactor lifetime extension, and new build programmes both in the UK and overseas.

The MAPS project is part-funded by Innovate UK.

Wideblue have engaged Compliance Solutions Limited and notified body LRQA to update Wideblue’s quality management system with a view to achieving ISO13485 during 2015.

Wideblue are already familiar with the requirements of the Medical Device Directive, ISO13485, CE marking and have helped many clients achieve certification of their new products, however, we have never had the need to put the certification in place for ourselves.

Wideblue have seen a large increase in demand for the design, development and manufacturing of new medical devices over the past few years and the time is now right to put this certification in place.
